My unplanned leave of absence from blogging is officially over. A lot has been going on in the past couple of months and I'll do my best to fill you in on everything. Please bare with me as I jump from topic to topic, and some may be more then you care to know. I will warn you to jump to the next subject if that's the case.
So I last blogged about the possible changes to the Texas State Pledge. That still bothers me but we're not going to talk about that. No soapbox today.
School!
Shortly before I last blogged I started my Associates degree in Accounting through the University of Phoenix. I am happy to say that I have completed my first round of courses and am well on my way to completing my first semester. Things are going very well on that front, and I look forward to completing my degree.
Grayson's School!
Grayson started Pre K shortly after I started, and he's loving it. He hasn't missed one day. He had a few problems with behavior, i.e. time out, but with some positive reinforcement from his teacher, and a visit to his doctor, things are going much better. He's been diagnosed mildly ADHD and is on a super low dose of meds. Aside from the talking non stop they're really helping. He's minding a lot better, following directions a lot better, and I don't have to call his name 10 times just to get his attention. I think that the talking will die down as he gets regulated. We shall see. I just want him to get the most out of school, and with his focus problems without the meds, I'm worried he'll miss out on the basics. I'm working with him on some stuff so that he doesn't always have to be on meds but in the mean time I'm hoping this will help to teach him a little self control.
Doctor's Stuff
Ummmm.....I've been taking better care of myself, and I've been diagnosed ADHD as well. LOL I went one day after work and got my meds. I started them the next day. My work production increased 100%. I was able to multi task like never before. Part of that job, it was a temp 8 week position, was to back up the call center. Later on at lunch with some coworkers they were telling me that they couldn't keep up with me. LOL So glad that I finally took the steps.
My Weight Loss!
I'm continuing on my weight loss journey. I'm currently down a total of 3 sizes and almost 35 pounds. I'm really excited. It's even to the point that if I don't wear heels with my dress pants I walk on them. Heck I almost walk on them when I'm wearing 2-3 inch heels. Whoo! I'm loving this transformation.
Baseball!
Grayson started baseball a couple of weeks ago. He's had three practices and 1 game. He is so funny. I never took the time to teach him anything about baseball because I didn't think he was interested. Not to mention his Daddy has played soccer his entire life, so I figured he would be playing soccer. He doesn't like soccer. So the handout came home from school and I decided to sign him up.
At his first game he had taken his glove out of his bag and left it at home. Uncle Dean was on the way with it but not in time for the game to start so they put him at catcher. Seeing as it's t ball a glove isn't a necessity. Well he did have to wear a helmet. So seeing as how he was wearing a batting helmet, that meant he was supposed to bat. So while the other teams player is running the bases he walks himself over to the other teams dugout and picks up a bat. LOL Yeah that was just the beginning.
His glove gets there and then it's just a matter of getting him to stay behind the plate. LOL
They head back into the dugout and he was 5th up to bat. He gets out there and the coach tried to get him to bat right handed. We inform him that he's a lefty and he hit the ball the very first time! Whoo Hoo! But then doesn't know where to go. We're all screaming at him to run so he just starts running. He went for the pitchers mound, then for the dugout, then for me, then finally to fist base. Of course once he got to first base, he was out, but still! He hit the ball! That was all due to Mommy's teachings! The coaches didn't teach him anything about left handed batting! Whoo!
So he's back out to play and they put him left field. He decides he doesn't like being here. LOL So he goes to 3rd base. Well the 3rd baseman doesn't like this. hes trying to shove him off and he just will not go. The coach finally got him off the base and into the outfield. So we had to left field players. So the next batter is up and he hits the ball. While the Bad News Bears are busily running around over throwing and not catching, Grayson decides to run the bases. He started at 3rd, and ran to home plate, then 1st and 3rd before they caught him and got him back in left field. Well that was all that happened for the remainder of that.
When it was his turn to bat again, he hit it again! First time. He got to 1st base no problem! The next batter hit the ball and Grayson headed for 2nd! Whoo! Stayed right there until he was told to run again. So he got to 3rd and apparently the 3rd base coach was not happy with the way he was standing on the base. So he was all bent over Grayson trying to get his feet right when they're next player hit the ball. They didn't know about it until the runner from second it at third trying to get Grayson to go! URRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Well he finally takes off and scores his first run about 10 steps ahead of the player that had been trying to get him to run. Whoo!
The rest of the game was pretty uneventful! They didn't bat again because when the ump called the game they had the last bat and were already winning. Whoo! His next game is next Tuesday. He's learned a lot more since his first game so I'm hoping this one will be even better.
I think that's all for now. And I've gone on long enough. I'll keep this up to date better so you don't have to stare at the screen for so long!
